The role of Areas is to support their societies - be it with advice, technical help, training or grants or just a friendly chat.
Areas are actually part of the central office organisation unlike societies which are self-governing.
With our goal of 'enriching lives with a love of the Arts', Wessex Area continues to run the 5 day study series in Cerne Abbas, Dorset, and online although not recorded and study days in Kennet Valley Hall, near Marlborough - again, in the venue and online. These study days consist of three one-hour lectures to give an in-depth look at the topic of the study series.
By holding these winter study series of talks, Area is able to finance the superb Arts Volunteering projects across Wessex and also help with AV projects in societies. Wessex Area doesn't do the normal recharge to our societies and we also part-fund the two Area meetings for chairmen.
The Area team consists of the Chairman, Area Secretary, two Area Co-ordinators of Education known as ACE's who organise and run the study days, the Arts Volunteering Representative and the Treasurer.
